Changing Lanes

ArtWeek in the City Centre: Changing Lanes is a key part of the ArtWeek programme, featuring events, exhibitions, installations, and activations that celebrate the creative culture of Tamaki Makaurau, with a focus on the city centre. Tasked with transforming some of the inner city’s iconic laneways, Shea worked with Trust Me to commission six artists to create site-specific public artworks. This collection of artwork is intended to alter our experience of familiar sites, prompting us to look with fresh eyes and see our city as a place to play, explore, and discover.

The artworks included On Happiness – a concrete poem for the city by Elliot Collins, City Friends by Levi Hawken, Joy Masks by Cinzah Merkens, RA by Tyrone Ohia (Ngāti Pukenga, Ngai te Rangi), Dr. Riki Gooch (Ngati Wai, Ngaati Maahanga), and Angus Muir, Efflorescence by Angus Muir, and Morning Star by Karen Sewell.
